Its important to us at GLOW that people understand the full health benifits of what we are offering. This Video and the following give an idea of what we are all about.
Research shows that the skills we teach—poi, juggling, slackline, and object manipulation—improve balance, coordination, attention, and physical confidence. Below is a summary of scientific studies supporting the benefits of these activities.
A University of Auckland randomized controlled trial (RCT) showed that a 1-month poi program significantly improved grip strength, balance, and sustained attention in participants. (SpinPoi study, University of Auckland)
Juggling-based training has been shown to increase grey matter in motion-processing areas of the brain and improve white-matter connectivity within 6 weeks.
Trials show that juggling can also boost postural stability and cognitive performance, particularly when done consistently.
Systematic reviews and randomized trials show slackline training improves postural control, reduces fall risk, and enhances static and dynamic balance in both youth and adults.
Slackline practice has also been linked to improved agility and higher energy expenditure compared to regular activities.
These activities are more than just fun: they train balance, coordination, attention, and postural control—capacities essential for tamariki’s physical and mental development.
